The workshop will be focused on working with Autolume, a neural network for artists, and will look into the tradition of simulation of nature. We will discuss the early forms of artificial life starting with historic examples such as the Chinese mechanical theatre of Han dynasty and Greek models of laws of nature by Hero of Alexandria. We will look into the islamic tradition of medieval generative art and European adaptation of it by Raimond Lull in his Ars generalis ultima. The historical overview will be finished by contemporary weather art (Walter de Maria, Lawrence Malstaf, Rafik Anadol) and AI life simulators. Students will be invited to create their own data set to be built into a communal artificial garden.

As this workshop is in English, a good level of English is required to take part.
