La
"performance": |
Le DJ est assis, il attend. Le visiteur est invité à
s'asseoir en face, à mettre les écouteurs et à
entendre le mix qui lui est destiné. Le DJ cherche à
partir de sa banque de son "concrets", à constituer
une pièce sonore personnalisée, directement adressée
à l'auditeur unique, (c.-à-d. l'idée préconÁue
de l'auditeur). Chaque "stereologue" dure autour de 8 mn.
Alors qu' en soirée, le DJ module son set en fonction de la
réaction flagrante du public (dansant, encourageant, désertant),
ici, une autre langue (non verbale) est déchiffrée:
les micro-expressions faciales. Ce language s'est par ailleurs généralisé
dans la scène 'laptop' o_, à l'inverse, il sert à
évaluer le succès du performeur. Il s'agit ici d'explorer
le bouclier de la technologie et du comportement codé mais
également des préjudices socio-culturels qui conditionnent
cet acte empirique de séduction et son risque d'échec
intrinsèque... L'auditeur peut s'en aller à tout moment.

Le
dispositif : |
Idéalement, l'échange se déroule dans un contexte
rapproché.
Les modes d'enregistrement et de mix des données sont tout
à fait libres. Dans le passé, nous avons employé
une mixette, 2 lecteurs de CD, deux casques, un amplificateur et 10
CDs (données sonores non musicales). Mais on peut aussi envisager
l'utilisation de cassettes, i.pods, minidiscs etc..

Le
mix personnalisé : |
Il est possible
de garder une trace de l'évènement au format audio.
Chaque mix portera alors le nom de son auditeur-récepteur.

one-to-one DJ experience.

The
"performance": |
The
private DJ is sitting, waiting. Visitors/passers-by are invited
to settle close by, wear the headphones and hear the mix. The DJ
digs into his/her sound collection to create a personal and transient
sound piece, directly addressed to the single
listener, (i.e. the preconceived idea of the listener). Each "stereologue"
will last for around 8mns. Wheareas in a club, a DJ adjusts his
set according to the obvious reaction of the public (dancing, cheering,
leaving), here, another (non verbal ) language is deciphered: micro-facial
expressions.
Besides, this language has become the norm in the 'laptop' scene,
where,
It is used to measure the technical success of the performer.
Exploring the protective shield of technology and coded behaviour
but
also the socio-cultural prejudices that condition this empiric act
of seduction and its intrinsic risk of failure...The listener can
leave at any point.

The
Apparatus: |
Idealy taking place
in an intimate setting. The modes of recording and playing data is
quite free. In the past, we used a mixer, 2 CD-players, two headphones,
an amplifier and 10 CDs (non-musical sound data). Of course, one can
also use cassettes, i.pods, minidiscs etc...
The
Personalised mix:
When choosing to keep a trace of the event in audio format. (mini
CD edition)
Each mix should be named after the listener.
